Ledger Live Backup & Security: Protecting Your Recovery Phrase
Connect your Ledger hardware wallet to the Ledger Live app and manage Bitcoin, Ethereum, and hundreds of other assets in one secure, easy‑to‑use dashboard.
Ledger Live is the official app for your Ledger hardware wallet. In just a few steps, you can log in, see your entire portfolio, send and receive crypto, and explore Web3 — all while your private keys stay locked inside your Ledger device
What Ledger Live Backup Really Means
In the Ledger ecosystem, ledger live backup refers primarily to your 24‑word recovery phrase.
• Your private keys stay inside your Ledger Hardware wallet.
• The Ledger Live app manages accounts and transactions but does not hold your keys.
• Your 24‑word phrase can recreate your wallet on a new device.
A strong backup plan includes:
• Writing the recovery phrase clearly and completely
• Storing it offline in a secure, private place
• Keeping it away from photos, online storage, and untrusted people
Never share or type these words anywhere except on your Ledger device. Official Ledger Live Support will never ask for them.

Restoring Your Wallet With Ledger Live
If you lose or damage your Ledger device but still have your recovery phrase:
1. Obtain a new Ledger Hardware wallet from an official or authorized source.
2. During setup, choose Restore from recovery phrase.
3. Enter your 24 words on the device only.
4. Install the Ledger Live app on your computer if you have not already.
5. Connect the restored device to Ledger Live and re‑add your accounts.
Once Ledger Live has synchronized, your balances and transaction history will be visible again.
